Thane: A fire broke out in a cloth factory in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi. At least three fire tenders are present at the spot to control the raging blaze.
No casualties have been reported so far. More details are awaited.
On December 29, a level -III fire broke out on the ground floor of Sadhana House behind Mahindra towers in Worli area of Mumbai, on Saturday at 4:45 PM. At least eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flame. No casualties were reported.
On the same day, another fire broke out in an under-construction building near Kamala Mills compound.
On Friday, nearly a dozen godowns were gutted in two separate fire incidents in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi town. No casualty was reported in both the incidents.
A fire broke out in godowns housing paper and cardboard items located in Jairaj Complex of the town at around 5.30 PM in which at least 11 godowns were destroyed. Firefighters from Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan and Ambernath were engaged in dousing the flames.
In the other incident, the fire destroyed a scrap godown. Items stored in the godown, a tailoring shop nearby and some motorcycles were destroyed in the blaze, the cause of which was not immediately known.
In yet another incident, a major fire broke out at a high-rise in Tilak Nagar area of Mumbai’s Chembur that claimed the life of at least five people. The parents of a policeman were also among the deceased. Two others, including a fireman, were reportedly injured in the incident. As soon as the matter was reported, eight fire tenders, one water tanker and ambulances were rushed to the spot.
On December 27, at least sixteen people were injured in a level-two fire in a godown on Dongri Jail Road in Mumbai’s Bhendi Bazaar. All those wounded were rushed to SSKM Medical College. No casualty had been reported that day as well.
