DDC inaugurates Kissan Mela cum Fruit Show at Doda

DODA, JANUARY 03: Department of Horticulture today organized two-day Kissan mela cum fruit show here at Town Hall under Mission for Integrated Development Horticulture (MIDH) 2018-19.

District Development Commissioner, Anshul Garg, inaugurated the show.

Over 500 farmers from various blocks of the district doda participated in the event who were educated through Power Point Presentation and demonstrations.

More than 200 samples of different kinds of fruit crops like walnut, apple, mango, Guava, grapes, pear, citrus, Aonla, Pecannut, litchi, anar and other rare fruits were displayed in the show.

The DDC inspected the fruit exhibits and appreciated the efforts horticulture department in supporting the farmers.

DDC exhorted upon the farmers to adopt horticulture as commercial farming for improving their income and livelihood. He directed the Chief Horticulture Officer to organize such programmes at block level to spread awareness about benefits of horticulture farming on scientific methods.

He distributed certificates among the progressive farmers for their active role in Horticulture activities besides giving away soil health cards to the eligible farmers.

SP Operation Ravinder Pal Singh, Chief Planning Officer Parshotam Kumar, Chief Horticulture Officer Madan Lal, District Horticulture Officer Sajid Mustafa, Senior scientist RHRS Bhaderwah Mahital Jamwal, MCC Bhaderwah Uttam Lal besides other officers and field staff of the department were present.
