Intense clashes erupted in parts of Awantipora tehsil of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday following the killing of two local militants in a gunfight with the forces in Tral forests.
Witnesses said that youth took to streets and pelted the forces with stones near Awantipora police station and Chursoo area as the news of militant killings reached there.
They said the forces fired tear gas to disperse the protesters, triggering further clashes.
Three militants were killed in a gunfight in Gulshanpora forest area of Tral earlier today. The slain included Touseef Ahmad Thoker alias Talha and Zubair Bhat alias Hamza, both residents of Chursoo, Awantipora.
