Zirakpur: A man from Zirakpur, who was in his mid-50s, died of swine flu in the first such case reported from the town this year. According to officials of the Health Department, the deceased was first admitted to Healing Hospital and was later shifted to Max Hospital in Mohali where he was undergoing treatment. He reportedly succumbed to the deadly H1N1 virus here today.
Following the death, the health authorities have taken precautionary measures. Health officials said there were no reports of any other patient with symptoms of the influenza from the town. They said medicine for the flu had been given to all those who had been in contact wit him as a preventive step. The authorities said the victim was a diabetic.
