Hooda, Vora get bail in AJL case

Panchkula: The Special CBI Court on Thursday granted bail to former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and senior Congress leader Motilal Vora in the case of re-allotment of a Panchkula plot to Associated Journals Limited (AJL), publisher of the newspaper National Herald.

Defence counsel, Abhishek Rana said Hooda and Vora appeared in court on Thursday as the the CBI court had summoned them. He said after hearing arguments, surety bail bonds of Rs 5 lakh each were filed, after which the court granted them bail. He said scrutiny of the chargesheet would be held on February 6.

The CBI had filed the chargesheet against Hooda and Vora in the case of plot re-allotment to the AJL. The CBI, in its chargesheet filed in the court of Special CBI Judge Jagdeep Singh, stated that Hooda, in his ex-officio capacity as Haryana Urban Development Authority chairman, had misused his position.
