Dr. Owais Interacts With Medal Winners, Says Government Eager To Revive Sports Infrastructure

Shopian 8 January : Deputy commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmad congratulated the young martial arts players from Shopian who won gold and silver medals at 64th school national squay championship at New Delhi.

Deputy Commissioner while hailing the young players said that the youth from district are proving their abilities at every front and the Khelo Shopian, in which thousands of youth participated has beared fruits with the rise of youngsters from district winning prizes at different national and international levels.

Four youth from Shopian won gold and silver medals in national squay championship in New Delhi are, Tawqeer Ashraf resident of Hergam Shopian, Faizan Ayoib (tiger) resident of Pinjora Shopian; both won golden medals and Liaba Imtiyaz resident of Gagren and Raja Younis from Batpora Shopian won silver medals in this championship.

Owais Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner Shopian added that government is eager to revive the sports infrastructure in future. He said that the adminstration is planing to establish modern type indoor and outdoor stadiums so that youth wouldn’t face problems in terms of sports infrastructure and hence can prove their abilities.

He added that the youth are enthusiastic and they are continuously bringing luarels to Jammu and Kashmir and nation as well. He further said that the youth have excelled not only at national level but also at international level. Referring to Ehsan Bodha, who won gold medal at recently held Sqay martial arts championship at South Korea, he said that the youth of Shopian have made the district proud.
