KARGIL, JANUARY 09: As part of the month long Swacch Sundar Shauchalaya Campaign, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kargil Imteeaz Kacho today inaugurated sanitary complexes here at Saliskote village of TSG Block and Faroona Sankoo block.
District Panchayat Officer Shabir Hussain, Block Development Officer Sankoo Muhammad Abbass, Block Development Officer TSG Asgar Ali, field functionaries and the locals were present on the occasion.
The ACD on the occasion informed the villagers about the Swacch Sundar Shauchalaya Campaign and said that this campaign aims to mobilise households to paint their toilets and to give them a facelift.
Kacho interacted with the people and urged them to take the responsibility of keeping the toilet complexes clean and operational.
As regards the Shauchalaya Campaign, the officers informed the people that the campaign is meant to encourage sustained usage of toilets, to increase their sense of ownership, ensure high quality and to improve the visibility of toilets in rural areas.
The village representatives were further informed that the nationwide campaign will culminate in a contest entitled Swacch Sundar Shauchalaya Contest wherein Gram Panchayats and Districts will be awarded on the basis of the number of toilets painted there within the campaign period.
Individual households will also be awarded for the most creatively painted toilets. The awards will be handed over at a National level ceremony.
