Chandigarh: The police have arrested a snatcher and recovered eight mobile phones, three two-wheelers and a laptop from his possession.

The suspect, Abhishek Kumar, alias Chetu, a resident of Burail village, was arrested while riding a motorcycle at a naka in Sector 45 on January 6. The police recovered a mobile phone from him, which was snatched in December last year.

The police procured the remand of the suspect, which further led to the recovery of more mobile phones and two-wheelers and a laptop.

The police claimed to have cracked four cases registered at the Sector 34 police station.

The police said the suspect was a Class X passout. He was a habitual offender.

“The suspect is also a drug addict. The drug peddler from whom he used to purchase drugs was also nabbed,” said a police official.

The drug peddler, Amarjeet Singh, a resident of Deep Complex, Hallo Majra, was arrested from Sector 32 while possessing 10 banned injections.
