Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday detained an unidentified person for vandalising a local shrine in southern Pulwama district.

Local residents told media that some miscreants damaged the windowpanes and tore the curtains of the shrine of Sufi saint Syed Latif-ud-Din Anbali (RA) in Pahoo village of the district last night.

A local said that one of the miscreants was caught hold of by the people who went to a nearby mosque for early morning prayers. The miscreant, they said, was later handed over to Kakapora police station.

Meanwhile, few videos have gone viral on social media in which the accused could be seen tied with people asking to reveal his identity. Some onlookers could be heard saying that the man was under the influence of drugs.

SP Pulwama Chandan Kohli told media that they were questioning the accused. “The investigations are on and the matter is being looked into,” he said.
