Srinagar, Jan 16: Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday strongly denied reports that nine people arrested by Special Operation Group (SOG) of state police, Srinagar, were handed over to National Investigation Agency (NIA).

A police spokesperson said the media reports on Tuesday stating that “Police Hands over 9 persons arrested by SOG Srinagar to NIA” is not factually correct.

In this context, he said, it is clarified that the instant case FIR No 93/2018 was registered at Police Station Kothi Bagh under the relevant sections of law.

The case was subsequently taken over by NIA and all the arrested accused are presently in Judicial Custody, he said, adding that the media reports are factually incorrect and thus stands rebutted.
