The residents of Repora and its adjoining localities in Lar area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday staged a protest against the non-availability of drinking water supply in their area.
Scores of villagers of Repora and other adjoining villages blocked the Srinagar-Leh highway against the non-availability of potable water supply.
“Our locality is without drinking water from past several days. We made frequent requests in this connection before concerned authorities but to no avail,” said a protester.
Later, a senior district administration official and police reached the spot and pacified the protesters while assuring them that their grievances would be addressed at the earliest.
