Srinagar, Jan 24: Reacting to the reports of thrashing of a 24-year-old youth by ‘cow vigilantes’ at Rohtak recently, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti alleged that the society hurtling towards a state of lawlessness as the police instead of doing their duty have become ‘collaborators.’

President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba, who was heading a coalition government with BJP till June last year when the saffron party pulled out, alleged that the

Naushad (24) was thrashed by cow vigilantes and the humiliation did not end there as he was later chained in a police station at Rohtak in Haryana.

Taking to micro blogging site twitter on Thursday, Mehbooba said, “His crime was that he was on his way to sell buffaloes. The humiliation didn’t end there”.

She further said, “Policemen arrived at the spot only to take him to the police station where he was tied to a bed in chains. We are hurtling towards a state of lawlessness because the police instead of doing their duty have become collaborators”.

Cow vigilantes allegedly thrashed Naushad on January 19 when he was on way to sell buffaloes.
