Chandigarh/Muktsar, January 27: Panjab University Senate member RD Bansal died after falling from the balcony of a room at the main guest house of the university on Sunday morning. He was staying in the room with his wife.
Sources said 51-year-old Bansal was standing in the balcony of the room on the first floor of the building, where he suffered a cardiac arrest and fell on the ground. He sustained a head injury and was immediately taken to the PGI, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Bansal was staying at the guest house with his wife and daughter.
He was an assistant professor at the Government College, Muktsar. His wife is a government teacher while his brother is a leading doctor at Muktsar. He was suffering from heart ailments, sources said.
Due to his death, the Government College, Muktsar, has suspended interviews for the posts of assistant professors scheduled to be held on Monday. These interviews had to be conducted by the higher education society.
