Srinagar, Jan 29: Condoling the demise of former defence minister George Fernandes, National Conference (NC) Vice President (VP) Omar Abdullah said he was always a friend and well wisher of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The former Chief Minister Omar said George Fernandes was a tireless crusader fighting for the voiceless, the marginalized and for those that needed someone in their corner.
Taking to micro blogging site Twitter Mr Omar said “ Rest in peace George Fernandes Sahib. You were a tireless crusader fighting for the voiceless, the marginalised & for those that needed someone in their corner. You called a spade a spade & did so unabashedly. You were always a friend & well wisher of the people of J&K”.
Mr Fernandes, 88, breathed his last in New Delhi Tuesday.
