Dhuri police book Markfed manager, others for unfair practice

Sangrur, January 31: The Dhuri police have registered a case of fraud against a Markfed manager and other officers for wetting the stored wheat in the godown on Wednesday night to increase its weight.

The accused are absconding while the police have started raids.

On a tip-off, a police team of Dhuri city led by SHO Major Singh conducted a raid at the Markfed godown located under the Railway Over Bridge here. The team found that the officers had put up big water pipes to wet the stored wheat.

“On seeing the police party, the accused fled. We have registered a case against Markfed manager Tarshdeep Sharma and the other officers. We are conducting investigation and raids to arrest the accused,” SHO Dhuri City Major Singh told media.

The accused have been booked under Sections 409, 420, 272, 273, 427 and 120-B of the IPC.
