Pilot Gets Killed After Fighter Aircraft Crashes at Bengaluru’s HAL Airport

Bengaluru: A pilot lost his life after a Mirage fighter aircraft crashed at the rear side of HAL airport, sources said on Friday. “It is a Mirage as it appears. We are waiting for exact details,” the source said.

Both pilots had ejected, but one of them died as he had landed on the wreckage of the aircraft, ANI reportedThe reason for the crash is yet to be determined. It was a test sortie.

The incident took place at 10:30 AM near Yamalur off old Airport Road in Bengaluru.

On January 28, a Jaguar aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district, police said. The pilot of the aircraft had ejected safely.

The military aircraft crashed soon after taking off on a routine mission from Gorakhpur. The plane had crashed in the Hatempur area of the district. No casualty was reported. The Jaguar had taken off from the Gorakhpur Air Force Station.

The IAF sources had said that a court of inquiry was ordered by the air headquarters to investigate the accident.
