An under-construction transmission tower of Bandipora grid station collapsed on Thursday in Ajas area due to heavy snowfall.
Locals said that the tower collapsed early morning following heavy snowfall in the area.
The under construction transmission tower connects Bandipora grid station with Badampora Ganderbal.
The grid station at Putushai is also under construction since 2009 when the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh approved the project under PMRP.
The 50 MVA, 132/33 KV grid station is being constructed by System and Operations Wing Kashmir TLCD and it has already missed three deadlines due to slow pace of work.
Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Bandipora, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary in a tweet said, “One under construction tower of BBTL collapsed at Ajas. Chief Engineer System and Operation wing enquiring into it.”
The collapse of under construction tower has raised eyebrows over the quality of work being carried out by the concerned department with locals demanding a high level probe into the matter.
