Saurabh Chaudhary bagged India’s second gold medal at the ongoing ISSF World Cup at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi on Sunday. Saurabh, who has a Youth Olympics gold medal to his name, bagged the top spot in the 10m air pistol event of the World Cup with a world record score of 245.0. He defeated Serbia’s Damir Mikec.
In what was Saurabh’s first senior World Cup finals, he booked himself a spot in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as his grabbed the quota place from this event for the mega event next year.
Such was Saurabh’s dominance that he had assured himself of the gold even before the final shot and was aiming for a world record in the final shot.

Saurabh also holds the world record in 10m air pistol event in the junior category.
Saurabh was top of the pack right from the start. After the first five shots he was joint-top with Serbia’s Damir Mikec.
After 10 shots, Saurabh went clear on top with 102.2 points while Mikec was second with 99.6.
Every good shot from Saurabh was cheered by the full house at the range but the young shooter maintained his calm to go right to the top.
China Wei Pang settled for a bronze while Mekic survived to grab the silver medal.
