India, Pakistan trade heavy fire, shelling in Rajouri

The armies of India and Pakistan on Tuesday exchanged heavy fire and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Reports said the shelling began after midnight in Nowshera area of the district, triggering panic among the residents.

Local reports said the firing started in Nowshera sector including Baba Khori where intense mortar shelling continued for over two hours.

During shelling, innumerable mortar shells fell on this side of Line of Control, they said.

An official said that Indian side was effectively responding to the Pak fire. However, there was no report of of any loss of life so far, he said.
