Chandigarh: Standing by his promise to ferry passengers free of cost in his auto for a month once the Indian Government gives a befitting reply to the terrorist attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama, 28-year-old auto driver Anil Kumar today ferried passengers and did not charge them for it after the Indian Air Force carried out air strikes in Pakistan.
Kumar had pledged to ferry passengers for free once the revenge was taken. According to him, this will be a tribute to the CRPF personnel killed in the fidayeen attack in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir earlier this month.
Kumar said he received calls from his friends early this morning informing him about the IAF strikes. “I was happy to know that India had retaliated after which I took the auto to the nearby bus stop and offered free rides to people waiting for public transport,” he said.
In the morning, people rushing to their offices and college students were ferried by Kumar in the auto. He continued driving the auto across the city till late in the evening.
Kumar has affixed banners of free ride on his auto along with his mobile number so that people can contact him.
Kumar also met many people who wanted to travel by his auto, but only if he took the fare. “Many passengers said they wanted to meet me and ride on my auto. However, they forced me to take the fare,” he said.
Kumar will continue ferrying passengers free of cost for one month.
