The armies of India and Pakistan on Wednesday evening exchanged heavy fire and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reports said that shelling was going on in Mendhar, Balakote and Krishna Ghati areas
They said that the shells were landing in civilian areas too.
The armies of both the countries have been targeting each other since Monday midnight. However, intense shelling started on Tuesday afternoon in Rajouri, Poonch and Akhnoor area in Jammu following tension over Indian Air Force strike in Pakistan.
Five army soldiers were injured, two of them critically, in Pakistan firing in Akhnoor yesterday.
Media reports said that six Pakistani civilians were killed in Indian firing.
