New Delhi, February 28: Following Karnataka BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa’s statement, a political war has started with the allegations that the BJP is trying to take political advantage of the prevailing war-like situation.

Countering Yeddyurappa, BJP leader and Union Minister Gen VK Singh (retd) said the action taken by the government is to safeguard the nation and ensure safety of citizens, not to win votes.

“@BSYBJP ji, I beg to differ. We stand as one nation, action taken by our government is to safeguard our nation & ensure safety of our citizens, not to win a few extra seats. “#WingCommanderAbhinandan is an embodiment of a mentally tough, selfless and courageous soldier. During these testing times the country stands, as one, behind him & his family. Our efforts are on & under the #GenevaConvention we hope that the brave pilot would return home soon,” he also wrote.Earlier in the day, Yeddyurappa said India’s air strikes on a terror camp in Pakistan had created a wave in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and would help the party win over 22 of 28 seats in the state in the general election.

“The atmosphere….day by day, the wind is increasingly blowing in favour of the BJP. The action of destroying terror hideouts by entering inside Pakistan has resulted in a pro-Modi wave in the country, the results of which can be seen in the coming general election,” he was quoted as saying.

“It has enthused the youth. This will help us win more than 22 Lok Sabha seats (in Karnataka),” the former Karnataka CM said. The BJP has 16 parliamentary seats in the state.
