Chandigarh, March 6: The Class XII Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) accountancy exam held today reportedly had “misprints”, which left students scratching their heads.

The question paper took longer than usual and many students struggled to complete the exam.

Angad Singh, a student, said, “The paper was very lengthy and some confusing questions made the calculations even more cumbersome.”Another student, Anuj Batuba, said, “The paper was moderate and lengthy. There was already a confusion regarding the English exam and now again a problem arose in this exam. Each mark is important for us.”

Mallika Kapoor, an accountancy teacher at St John’s High School, explained: “In Question No. 15 of 67/2, the balance sheet was given for March 31, 2018, and should have been an opening balance sheet of March 31, 2017. The receipt and payment account for the year ending as March 31, 2018, had a payment of computers of Rs 10,00,000, dated October 1, 2018, which should have been October 1, 2017.”

She added, “Due to this discrepancy, students could not comprehend the question and wasted precious time in attempting it.”

Kapoor today sent an email to the CBSE requesting grace marks. “Since the question is carrying six marks, the marking scheme should be designed accordingly.”
