SHOPIAN, MARCH 08: District Development Commissioner Shopian Dr. Owais Ahmed today laid foundation stone of Government Degree College Zainapora in presence of District and Sectoral officers of the district.
The college campus is being developed over 78 Kanals of land and is targeted to be completed in three working seasons at an estimated cost of Rs 1202.99 lacs.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that education is one of the most important factors for empowering people, besides creating a sense of equality among different sections of the society.
He said that the Government has initiated several measures to strengthen the education sector and construction of new degree college with all modern facilities will prove a milestone in further strengthening the higher education standards.
DDC said that college will provide necessary educational facilities to the students of Tehsil Zainpora and adjacent areas and would decongest the existing colleges of the district.
Additional District Development Commissioner Shopian, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Exen R&B and other concerned officers/officials, besides a large number of locals were also present on the occasion.
