Chandigarh, March 8: A 32-year-old Punjab Police constable, who was in an inebriated condition, was arrested for harassing a woman and entering the women’s toilet at Sukhna Lake last night.
Accused Gurdeep Singh was posted in Ludhiana and attached with a DSP-rank officer, who had come to the city for official work. The police said Gurdeep tried to escape after locking the woman inside the toilet. However, he was nabbed by evening walkers.
The police said the accused entered the women’s toilet following which the victim raised the alarm. A woman, who was passing by, nabbed the accused with the help of other people. The police were informed about the incident. Gurdeep’s medical examination was conducted, which confirmed that he was drunk.
A case has been registered against him at the Sector 3 police station.
