The residents of Kellar block in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday staged a demonstration against the alleged high handedness by army men in the area.

Reports said scores of residents held protests against the army men stationed at Mastpora village of the district.

The area also witnessed a spontaneous shutdown as a mark of protest against the alleged army action.

The residents alleged that soldiers frequently summon the local youth to the facility where they are beaten up.

The miffed residents also blamed the soldiers of snatching their mobile phones.

However, defence spokesperson Rajesh Kalia dismissed the reports. He said all these allegations were baseless.
