The armies of India and Pakistan on Wednesday exchanged fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reports said that the firing exchange began around 10 am in Khari Karmara area of Gulpur sector.
They said both the armies used small arms and mortars to target each other’s positions along the LoC.
However, there was no immediate report of any loss of life on either side.
Ceasefire violations have witnessed a major spurt along the LoC in Poonch since India and Pakistan carried out tit-for-tat strikes last month.
Tensions flared up between India and Pakistan after a suicide bomber of Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM) killed 40 CRPF personnel in Pulwama district on February 14.
Amid mounting outrage, the Indian Air Force carried out an air strike in Pakistan on February 26.
The next day, Pakistan Air Force retaliated and downed a MiG-21 in an aerial combat and captured Indian pilot, who was handed over to India on March 1.
