Chandigarh, March 15: A sanitation worker of the MC was nabbed by the UT Vigilance Department while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 today.
Sources said the department had received a complaint that a sanitation worker, Tej Pal, employed with the public health wing of the MC, was demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 for providing a job of sanitation worker to the complainant’s son.
Vigilance sleuths said the complainant was asked to pay the first instalment of Rs 10,000. “Tej Pal asked the complainant to come to his house in Sector 28 to hand over the money,” a Vigilance official said.
The Vigilance laid a trap and nabbed the suspect while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against him at the Vigilance police station, Sector 9.
