Former legislator and Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) chairman Er Rasheed on Friday announced that he will fight the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Rasheed said he will fight the polls from Baramulla constituency.
“Though every party approached AIP for seeking the support in the Parliamentary elections, but no understanding could be reached with any one of them for the reason that they were not ready to support AIP’s stand on various crucial issues,” said Rasheed.
He said that the AIP could not support any of the parties who were “responsible” for most of the miseries of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Keeping all circumstances in mind party has decided to field Ab. Rayees Rather from Jammu Udhampur parliamentary Constituency, Shahzad Shabnum Deewan from Punch Rajori, Zubair Masoodi from South Kashmir and Er. Rasheed from North Kashmir parliamentary constituency and the party may take a decision about other Parliamentary segments soon,” said a party statement.
