Protests In UK, Pak Against JKLF Ban, Yasin Malik’s Arrest
Srinagar, Mar 26: The acting chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Abdul Hameed Butt on Tuesday said He said New Delhi by banning JKLF and Jamaat-e-Islami through its dint of force cannot make valiant Kashmiri people to surrender their right of freedom and self-determination.
He said protests against party ban and arrest of Chairman Yasin Malik continued with several delegations of JKLF leaders led by its diplomatic bureau chief Prof. Raja Zafar Khan in London met with UK-based All Parties Parliamentary Group on Kashmir (APPG) and apprised them about the prevailing situation in Jammu Kashmir.
In a statement issued to media, Butt said Prof. Raja Zafar was accompanied by JKLF UK zonal president Sabir Gul and senior party leader in UK Muhammad Faiz.
The delegation informed the APPG members about the real motive behind banning of JKLF by Government of India. They termed the ban as undemocratic and uncalled for, and also expressed serious concern over the arrest and PSA on Yasin Malik, Butt said.
The delegation appealed the British PM to use her office in lifting the ban on JKLF and urge India to release all the arrested political prisoners including Yasin Malik who has been heading a “purely peaceful” political organization that stands for the reunification of the entire divided State of Jammu Kashmir, Butt said adding that APPG members included Member Parliament and Shadow Minister Afzal Khan and Lord Qurban Hussain.
The JKLF acting chairman said the party in Paris led by its branch president Mushtaq Pasha held a protest demonstration near Eiffel Tower against the ban and arrest of Malik. Besides a number of young children, the protest was attended by many party leaders including member supreme council Muzammil Adil, he said.
“Similar protest demonstration was held near Press Club Karachi, Pakistan, led by JKLF Sindh president Khawaja Muhammad Abdullah (Advocate). Besides member supreme council Javed Hanif and Majid Khan, many party leaders and members participated in the protest who demanded the immediate lifting of ban on JKLF and release of party chairman Yasin Malik,” the JKLF leader said.
“Other forceful protest demonstrations and rallies were also held in Kotli and Rawalakot districts of AJK which were led by Ashfaq Kashmiri and Muhammad Haroon, the respective district presidents. These rallies and protests against India were addressed by zonal president Dr. Toqeer and Dy. General Secretary S M Ibrahim (Advocate),” he said.
