New Delhi, March 29: Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar will contest on Congress ticket from Sasaram segment in Bihar and sitting MP Ranjeet Ranjan will fight from Supaul.

Journalist Supriya Shrinate has been nominated from Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh by replacing a candidate declared earlier.

The new list of 12 candidates featured 12 candidates, including four from Bihar, one from UP and the rest from Odisha.

Meira Kumar, who has represented Sasaram for years, lost the 2014 LS poll from here at the height of Narendra Modi wave in favour of the BJP.

Two days after joining, Urmila gets Cong ticket

Congress today formally fielded actor Urmila Matondkar as a Lok Sabha candidate from Mumbai North segment two days after she joined its ranks.

She will take on BJP strongman Gopal Shetty in the constituency, which first became famous in 2004 when celebrity candidate Govinda defeated then BJP stalwart Ram Naik from this segment.

Matondkar said she was in politics for a long haul and believed in the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru and Sardar Patel.

She joined in the presence of Mumbai Regional Congress Chief Milind Deora and former Chief Sanjay Nirupam.
