New Delhi, April 2: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley called the Congress manifesto “un-implementable”, saying promises were made out of ignorance of reality.
Jaitley, who targeted Congress president Rahul Gandhi at a press conference he held at Bharatiya Janata Party’s headquarters in the national capital, called some of the ideas in the manifesto “dangerous” that was “meant to break up the country”.
“When we were in opposition I never believed the promises made in the Budget. The devil’s always in the detail and it was always later that one would understand what the promises actually meant,” he said.
“It seems some of the important points have been devised by ‘tukde-tukde’ gang,” he said, using a phrase that has now come to commonly used by the right.
He said the manifesto is “meant to forward the Nehru Gandhi family historic mistake in Jammu and Kashmir”.
“We lost a considerable part of J&K and they’re promising to remove sedition from the Indian Penal Code. Because of this one single promise they do not deserve a single vote,” he said.
“What they are actually trying to do is make Maoists and Naxals strong. What the Congress is trying to is dilute a robust system. So far 1,799 complaints have come against officials, 1741 have been investigated and action taken against 68 officers,” he said. “There is no word about Kashmiri Pandits in the Congress manifesto. They could have at least mentioned them… They want to prosecute those very people who laid down their lives for the country on the behest of friends of terrorists. This is the biggest sin the Congress is trying to do.”
He also targeted Congress party’s promised minimum income guarantee scheme called ‘Nyuntam Aay Yojana’.
The BJP’s press conference came hours after the Congress released its manifesto.
