DEO reviews poll preparedness in Pulwama
PULWAMA, APRIL 04: District Election Officer (DEO) Pulwama, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review preparedness for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners Pulwama, Tral and Awantipora, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Deputy District Election Officer, Nodal Officers, Sectoral Magistrates and all other concerned officers.
The meeting held threadbare discussions regarding the working of committees for EVM management, Transport management, Expenditure Monitoring, Training, MCC, Media Monitoring Committee and other related issues.
A PowerPoint presentation was given regarding the verification report of all polling stations related to electrification, water supply, availability of ramps and other basic minimum facilities.
The DEO emphasised on strict implementation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and stressed on the officers to work in close coordination for smooth conduct of the elections. He also directed the concerned to ensure facilities like water supply, electricity, washroom facilities at designated polling stations well in advance.
Meanwhile, the DEO sensitised the officers about their responsibilities. He asked for Assured Minimum Facilities at every polling booth, expediting distribution of voter cards (EPIC), setting up voter assistance booths (help desks) and dependable communication network near polling booths.
