Leh: DEO reviews ‘Assured Minimum Facilities’ at polling stations

LEH, APRIL 08: District Election Officer (DEO) Leh Avny Lavasa today took stock of the preparedness at the polling stations in terms of Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF).

Chairing a meeting of the Zonal Magistrates and Sectoral Magistrates, she   explained their role for ensuring free, fair and smooth parliamentary elections. She

 The DC expressed satisfaction over the measures taken for AMF at polling stations and urged upon the executing agencies and the magistrates to accelerate completion of the important works including creation of ramps and toilets. She also assessed the status of basic facility such as connectivity, availability of electricity, drinking water, furniture at the polling stations and issued directions to the concerned agencies to put in place all basic facilities well in time for the convenience of the voters. To ensure availability of connectivity, DEO urged upon the BSNL to restore the defunct DSPTs in rural pockets  for timely reporting on the progress of election process.

For setting up of intermediate Strong Rooms for EVMs and VV PATs at Sub Divisional levels, the DEO sought proposals from the SDMs.

Refresher training on the operating system of EVM and VV PAT was also imparted to the Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates by the experts.
