Voter awareness camp held at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, APRIL 08: The District Election Authority Udhampur today organized a voter awareness camp here under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.

The programme was held under the supervision of District Election Officer Dr. Piyush Singla at Shivalik College of Education.

Over 300 students of the College participated in the camp.

Addressing the participants, the Deputy DEO highlighted the importance of greater voter turnout for a stronger democracy. She further said that the district administration has intensified voters’ awareness programme across the district to familiarize people with Electronic voting machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) and other election-related activities under SVEEP.

District Social Welfare Officer Sana Khan also spoke on the occasion and asked the participants to spread awareness among the common masses about the EVM and VVPAT machines.

On the occasion, artists of the Information Department presented a scintillating cultural programme to aware the youth about the importance of casting vote.

Among others present were Principal of the host College, Dr. Vikram Gulati, Officers and Officials of concerned departments besides a large number of students were present.
