Chandigarh, April 16:A delegation of leaders from the Congress and Aam Admi Party (AAP) on Tuesday called upon the Chief Election Commissioner, seeking review of the its decision to transfer IG Vijay Kunwar Partap, a member of the SIT probing the 2015 sacrilege and police firing incidents.
The delegation comprising state Congress chief Sunil Jakhar, Punjab minister Tript Rajinder Bajwa, AAP’s leader of Opposition Harpal Cheema, besides HS Phoolka and Nazar singh urged the Chief Election Commissioner that the complaint by the Akalis was aimed at tampering with the investigation into a very sensitive issue. True facts had not been brought to the Commission’s notice, they claimed.The delegation members said the commission had assured them that it would look into their submission.
