The National Investigating Agency (NIA) has failed to produce evidence against a Kashmiri student in Jalandhar attack case, prompting the court to release him.

Danish Rehman Sofi was arrested in October last year for his alleged involvement in Jalandhar attack case.

“The NIA court in Mohali released Danish today after the premier investigating agency failed to produce any evidence against him in the court,” Agency reported on Tuesday.

Reportedly, the Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir police had claimed to have busted a militant module in Jalandhar in October 2018 by arresting some Kashmiri students, who were allegedly linked to the Al-Qaida offshoot Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH).

The police had also claimed to have recovered two weapons, including an assault rifle, and some explosives from their possession.
