Awareness programme on cleanliness under SVEEP held at Kargil
KARGIL, APRIL 26: On the 3rd consecutive day of the cleanliness drive initiated within “Sweep under SVEEP” organized by the District Election Officer (DEO), Kargil under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign, a mass awareness programme to inculcate the habit of overall cleanliness and waste segregation among school going children, was held at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Bemathang.
Around 10000 people including students from different schools of Kargil town, employees of district administration and district police participated in order to raise awareness about overall cleanliness and electoral participation.
General Observer 4-Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency S K Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. District Election Officer (DEO) Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, Superintendent of Police, President Islamia School Kargil, Vice Chairman Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil, Deputy District Election Officer Kargil, District SVEEP PwD Icon Master besides all district officers and officials were also present on the occasion.
General Observer said that the novel concept would prove instrumental in sensitizing the masses about the importance of cleanliness for a healthy society besides also enlightening them about the value of voting. The General Observer said that cleanliness is not a work that needs to be done forcefully but should come to us naturally considering its importance.
The District Election Officer Kargil in his address said that being clean and tidy is a good habit to lead a healthy life and students need to be aware about the hygiene of their classrooms, playgrounds, toilets, canteens and other places of the school.
Meanwhile, a signature campaign for pledge to vote was also organized on the occasion wherein among others dignitaries, officers, employees and number of people participated.
The students on the occasion also formed a human chain with the slogan of Sweep under SVEEP while as a Voters’ Facilitation Centre to extend necessary as a Voters’ Facilitation Centre to extend necessary voters guidance and assistance and a selfie point was also set up.
The cleanliness drives were held at Degree College Kargil, ITI, Kargil Hospital Road Kargil and several other locations in and around Kargil town. Deputy District Election Officer Kargil, Principal Degree College Kargil, Zonal Education Officer Kargil, Teaching and Non Teaching Staff, other officials and large number of students enthusiastically took up massive cleaning up at these locations.
