Awareness Programme under SVEEP held at Shopian
SVEEP Pledge administered to over 1000 Employees
SHOPIAN APRIL 29:
Under the supervision of District Election Officer, Shopian Dr. Owais Ahmad a Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) awareness programme was organised for employees of different departments here at Mini Secretariat Shopian. The programme was organised as a part Election Commission of India’s SVEEP campaign to create awareness about importance of voting in democratic process.
On the occasion, DEO Dr. Owais Ahmad spoke at length about the role of SVEEP campaign in educating and motivating the electorate to exercise their right to vote. He said greater participation is key to stronger democracy and the main aim is to motivate voters to go and cast their votes so as to elect representatives of their choice who can further the development process.
Later, SVEEP pledge was also administered with participants resolving to contribute their bit to make democracy more vibrant. Over 1000 employees of various departments took oath across the district at mini secretariat and their respective offices.
Present on the occasion were ADDC Salim Malik, ADC Shabir Hussain, ACR Shahnawaz Shah, ARO Wachi Dr. Mohd Amin, ARO Shopian Aslam Zargar, all District Officers and employees of various departments.
