Hisar/Faridabad, April 29:Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has dismissed BJP’s “chowkidar” campaign as theatrics and this, she claimed, would become the Narendra Modi-led NDA government’s undoing in the Lok Sabha elections.
“The BJP is a ‘jumla’ party (slogan-raising party). It must be voted out of power in the larger interest of society,” she said at a rally in Faridabad on Monday in favour of BSP-LSP candidates from Faridabad and Gurgaon. Mayawati addressed a rally in Hisar earlier in the day.The BSP is contesting elections in alliance with the Loktantra Suraksha Party (LSP) led by Raj Kumar Saini.
She was happy with the attendance at the rally in Faridabad. “It appears that the people have made up their mind to vote out the NaMo’s reign.”
Mayawati accused the BJP of being a capitalist and casteist party with a narrow approach towards society. “The narrow-mind approach of the RSS is damaging the social fabric of the country. Anti-people decisions of demonetisation and implementation of the Goods and Services Tax broke the back of the common people in the past five years,” she alleged.
The BSP supremo asked tough question of the government. “Where are the houses for the homeless and gas cylinders for the poor?”
Training her guns at the BJP government in the state, Mayawati said the ruling dispensation did not take an initiative in uplifting socially backward communities. “The publicity campaign of the BJP is nothing but an exercise in befooling people. But voters are smart enough to see through BJP’s designs.”
She was unsparing in her criticism of the Congress as well. The Congress, she claimed, had failed to safeguard the interests of backward classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and minority communities when it was in power. “If voted to power, the BSP-led government will ensure employment in the government and private sectors to all youth.”
LSP supremo Raj Kumar Saini, who was also present in the rallies, reiterated the promise of providing jobs. “The BSP-LSP government will ensure that every family in Haryana gets one job. This is not all. We will put an end to the policy of discrimination on the basis of caste and region. The state has seen enough of nepotism. Now, it’s time to set the record straight,” he said.
The BSP-LSP candidates from Hisar Surender Sharma and Sirsa Janak Raj Athwal were also present in the Hisar rally. Agencies
