498 marks, Haryana girl is all-India joint second

Hisar, May 2:With 498 out of 500 marks, Bhavya Bhatia of BKRS Public School in Safidon town of Jind district has secured the joint second position in the CBSE Class XII examination.

She shares the rank with Rishikesh’s Gaurangi Chawla and Rae Bareli’s Aishwarya. A student of arts, Bhavya scored 100 out of 100 in economics, history, political science and Hindi, besides 98 per cent in English. Hailing from Urlana Kalan village in Panipat, around 12 km from her school, Bhavya said, “I focused on self-study and never took any tuition. I was expecting an excellent result but this has totally surprised me.” 

On her study routine, Bhavya said: “I never followed a timetable.”

Her father Vikas Bhatia, who is a bookseller, said he  wanted Bhavya to go abroad, “but she insists on joining the IAS”. Her mother Anju is a schoolteacher.

With 497 marks, Rubani Cheema of Hisar’s Vidya Devi Jindal School is among 18 students to rank third.
