Shopian gunfight over; three militants killed, army soldier injured

Srinagar,May 3: Three militants were killed and an army soldier injured in a gunfight between militants and the security forces at a village in south Kashmir’s poll bound Shopian district on Friday.

A police official said the militants opened fire on the forces from a residential house during a cordon and search operation in Aadkhara village of Imam Sahab area of the district.

He said that the anti-militancy operation is over with the killing of three militants.

“Identification of all the three militants is being ascertained,” the official said.

A youth, identified as Mudasir Ahmad, a resident of Wuyan village of Imam Sahab, was also injured following the violent clashes near the site of a gunfight.

Mudasir has suffered a bullet injury in his leg following which he was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

The mobile Internet service also remains snapped in entire south Kashmir.

The Shopian district is going to polls on May 6 for Anantnag Lok Sabha seat.
