Week long workshop on data analytics with Python commenced at Bhaderwah Campus
Bhaderwah, May 7 : Department of Computer Science and IT , Bhaderwah Campus in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology –Roorkee
(IIT Roorkee) today organized week long workshop on “Faculty Development Programme on data analytics with Python at Bhaderwa Campus here today.
The week long programme is being organized by Department of Computer Science and IT , Bhaderwah Campus in collaboration with Indian
Institute of Technology –Roorkee (IIT Roorkee). This workshop is a part of “Golden Jublee Celebration of University of Jammu.
The workshop was inaugurated by Rector Bhaderwah Campus, Chief Guest and Patron of this workshop , Prof. Anil K. Raina in presence of Dr.
Srriraman Raja Gopalan as IT expert , Dr Jatinder Manhas Head Computer
Science and IT and Organizing Secretary of this workshop, Dr Neeraj
Sharma HOD IME , event Coordinator Dr Abid Sarwar and computer expects from different Universities of the stats. The workshop
commenced with the lighting of lamp.
More than 70 participants (Academic and Research Scholars) from different Universities and the state and outside the state are attending this workshop. The aim behind this workshop is to make aware
the budding computer experts about this new technology which is data
analytics with Python.
Speaking on the occasion , Rector Bhaderwah Campus and Patron of this workshop , Prof. Anil K. Raina while congratulating the Department of
Computer Science and IT , Bhaderwah Campus and Indian Institute of
Technology –Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) for organizing this workshop on the latest technology.
“This workshop was possible only with the tireless efforts of Dr Jatinder Manhas who being the Organizing Secretary of this event held
series of correspondence with IIT Roorkee in getting this event done,” he said adding further informed that soon Bhaderwah Campus and IIT
Rurkee will sign MOU which will help further to organize more FacultyDevelopment Programmes.
Dr. Sriraman Rajagopalan IT expert form IIT Roorkee in his detailed Power Point Presentation, spoke on the technical aspect of this workshop he said that Python is a general-purpose programming language
that is becoming more and more popular for doing data science. “Companies worldwide are using Python to harvest insights from their data and get a competitive edge. “It is really a great experience to
work with department of Computer Sciences Bhaderwah Campus and this
workshop will further strengthen the relations between IIT Roorkee and Bhaderwah Campus,”
He futher said that this one week faculty development programme (FDP) on “Open Source Technologies in Data Science with special focus on
PYTHON” from 6 th to 11 th May, 2018 will discuss many issues. “The workshop on FDP will discuss issues related to Artificial
Intelligence, Deep Learning,and Image Analytics with particular emphasis on the emerging research paradigms in data science with
respect to its applications in various fields,” he added
Dr Prof. Sanjeev Manhas Principal Investigator E&ICT Academy of IIT Ruorkee who is instrumental in organizing this workshop interacted
with the participants through online mode.
Dr. Jatinder Manhas, head computer sciences and organizing secretary of this event presented a formal welcome to the participants. “I am thankful to all the guests who are part of the weeklong event. This
workshop was possible only due to the support and guidance extended by the Rector Bhaderwah Campus Prof. Anil. K. Raina,”
He said that during this workshop focus will be on the themes: (a) Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Algorithms (b) Deep Neural Networks (c) Medical Image Processing (d) Data Science
initiatives in medical diagnosis, etc. (e) IoT Technology. “The five days event include three technical theory sessions followed by practical hands on lab session every day.
