Chandigarh, May 7:Providing better education and health facilities akin to Delhi will be the priority of AAP candidate Harmohan Dhawan if he wins the Lok Sabha seat from the city.
In an interaction with media, Dhawan claimed that he would also introduce “janta budget” in Chandigarh, which would have involvement of resident welfare associations, traders and industrialists to ensure that funds were allocated as per requirements. The AAP leader said he did not believe in manifestoes as their sanctity was lost. “Political parties release manifesto and later forget it,” he added.
Dhawan claimed that the way the AAP government had upgraded the standard of education and health in Delhi was impressive and he wanted to replicate it in Chandigarh. “In addition to this, focusing on providing basic amenities will also be among my priorities,” he added.
Speaking over the long-pending demand of shifting of dumping ground from Dadu Majra, the former Union Minister said political leaders in the city lacked vision. “Norway is the perfect example as the country imports garbage and utilises it to produce energy,” Dhawan said.
About dealing with rising traffic in the city, Dhawan said Metro was the need of the hour to lessen the movement of vehicles from neighbouring cities besides constructing underpasses in the city.
Dhawan termed BJP candidate Kirron Kher’s performance in the city as zero. “She failed to fulfil promises she made to voters in the last elections,” he added.
AAP promises

When the elections are round the corner, people start switching loyalty to political parties for monetary gains. I call it election mandi. —Harmohan Dhawan, AAP candidate from Chandigarh
