World Red Cross Day celebrated at Kargil
KARGIL, MAY 08: To commemorate World Red Cross Day, a function was held here to underline the services of the Red Cross Society towards the welfare of the needy.
Deputy Commissioner and CEO Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, who is also the Chairman of the District Red Cross Committee Kargil was the chief guest of the occasion.
Additional Senior Superintendent of Police and Vice President District Red Cross Committee Kargil Khalid Amin was guest of honour.
Highlighting the importance of World Red Cross Day, the Deputy Commissioner urged upon the youngsters to volunteer for human welfare and develop in them the principles of universality, impartiality, love, care and sympathy.
The Additional Senior Superintendent of Police and Vice President District Red Cross Society Kargil also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the basic principles of the Red Cross. He urged the participants to inculcate the spirit of charity for the welfare of the needy.
Chief Medical Officer Kargil Dr Ibrahim Khan, Chief Education Officer Kargil Nazir Ahmed Want, district officers besides students from different educational institutes and prominent citizens also participated in the programme.
Earlier, a rally was organized to mark the Day in which hundreds of students from Girls, as well as Boys Higher Secondary School Kargil, participated.
Coordinator, Red Cross Committee Kargil, Muhammad Hadi and Member Red Cross Ahmad Ali briefed about the aims and objectives of the Red Cross Movement on the occasion.
