Solan, May 10:A video of a BJP leader pushing aside a Scheduled Caste woman on stage during a rally just to be seen standing close to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has gone viral.
Dyal Pyari, a Zila Parishad member, has registered a case with the Sirmaur police against BJP leader Baldev Bhandari under Section 3 of the SC/ST Atrocities Act.
Being a non-bailable offence, Bhandari will have to seek anticipatory bail to evade immediate arrest though police officials said they were investigating this aspect and have sought a legal opinion.
In the video, Bhandari is purportedly seen pushing Pyari at the rally in Sirmaur’s Sarahan on May 4.
Bhandari is the Chairman of HP Agriculture Marketing Board.
Meanwhile, Ravi Kumar, Independent candidate from Shimla Lok Sabha seat, has came out in Pyari’s support. He alleged the BJP leader’s behaviour was unexpected, and that Pyari was unceremoniously pushed by Bhandari on the dais in the presence of the Chief Minister.
Bhandari has been issued a notice by state party chief Satpal Satti.
