Fresh landslides, shooting stones hamper traffic movement on Kashmir highway; thousands of vehicles stranded

Banihal, May 11 : Thousands of vehicles continued to remain stranded on Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Saturday as fresh landslides and shooting stones closed the strategic road again hours after its re-opening. 

Eye witnesses said that the road was re-opened and closed several times at Digdol where landslides had blocked the road since Wednesday evening.

As a result, they said, there was a massive traffic jam between Digdol and Ramban.

An official said that over 500 vehicles, including cars and commercial vehicles, were stranded on the vital road since Wednesday evening.

He said that light rains were furthering delaying the full restoration of the highway for the traffic.
