Repoll in Faridabad, DC shifted after video

Chandigarh, May 13:The Election Commission of India today shifted Faridabad Deputy Commissioner-cum-Returning Officer Atul Kumar following the arrest last night of a BJP polling agent, who was accused of trying to push three women into voting for the “lotus” symbol at a booth in Faridabad’s Asavati village.

 He has been replaced with Ashok Kumar Garg, Commissioner, Hisar Municipal Corporation, according to Dr Inder Jeet, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana.The ECI has also barred micro-observer Sonal Gulati from election duty for three years on charges of reporting the incident incorrectly.  

A repoll has been ordered at a booth in Asavati village of Prithla segment of Faridabad Lok Sabha seat on May 19 after a video showed an agent pressing the EVM button on behalf of voters.
