Chandigarh, May 13:Congress firebrand youth leader Hardik Patel today slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘false propaganda’ he did before the 2014 elections, showing face of Gujarat that never even existed.Patel, who hails from Gujarat, today addressed two public meetings in Sector 20 and 22 here in support of Pawan Kumar Bansal, Congress candidate from Chandigarh.
Patel said he belongs to Gujarat, the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and certainly “not” from PM Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah’s Gujarat, who he collectively nicknamed, “Ranga-Billa”.
Referring to the visit of Narendra Modi in Chandigarh on Tuesday, Patel remarked: “Do wear helmets tomorrow as lots of ‘joomlas’ will be thrown in the air tomorrow.”
Patel said: “In 2014, people voted in Modi’s favour after being impressed by the Gujarat model that he presented to the nation. However, the bitter truth is that you were never shown the dark reality of Gujarat, which comprises of 16,000 villages with hardly any electricity, water and irrigation facilities for farmers. They made TV ads of Gujarat’s Kutch region but nobody told you that the state’s biggest sex racket has been running there for so many years and 32 rape incidents happened in the past few years only.”
Talking about the issues of Chandigarh, Patel said sitting MP Kirron Kher was seen on “India’s Got Talent”, a reality show, more than in Parliament during her tenure as the city MP.
“It’s shocking to know that even with the BJP at the Centre, she couldn’t procure funds for the development of Chandigarh and made it worse,” Patel said.
Patel also dared Modi to contest the elections on the real issues and stop advertising himself in the media and not answering moot questions.
Patel said Pawan Kumar Bansal was the best person for Chandigarh.
Bansal said: “Defeat is visible on Narendra Modi’s face as he himself knows he is going to lose. Unfortunately, Modi thought he’s going to remain as the PM forever. But thanks to our democratic system, people are given the right to vote after every five years.”
