Special NIA court directs Pragya Thakur, all other Malegaon 2008 blast accused to remain present in court at least once a week

New Delhi,May 17: After giving clean chit to all Pragya Thakur, a Special NIA court in Mumbai has directed all accused of Malegaon 2008 blast case to remain present before the court atleast once a week, reported news Agency ANI. This includes Pragya Thakur, Lt Col Prasad Purohit and others. The Court has expressed displeasure over their absence in courtroom and has set next hearing on May 20.

Arrested in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, Pragya Thakur was given a clean chit by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), but the trial court refused to discharge her from the case. The court dropped the charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against her, and she is now being tried under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. She was granted bail by the Bombay High Court in 2017.
